This sounds much more poppy than the songs on the last album which was a belter. Really looking forward to hearing the new record.

Sounds like victory.
Need full LP.

QUiK May 25, 05:40 AM #

where the fuck is the shoegazing postpunk? where is the psychedelic krautrock? where is the creepy garagepunk? the new song sounds like the gay 80s-shit that filled up moneysucking stadiums… is that really you? im looking for better tracks on the LP, hope so… :(

sid May 25, 05:59 AM #

Such a different vibe, I was expecting something different. It is not as hypnotic as “Sea within a sea” for a first single, but I trust the record won’t dissapoint us. Hope we don’t have to wait until July to hear it in full and hope the band can play it live in Guadalajara, Mexico as Primary Colors.

Mexican Killer May 25, 08:59 AM #

Beautiful track, reminds me of Screamadelica era Primal Scream. Well done for having the confidence to self-produce also.

Matthew May 25, 10:35 AM #

Oh sid, get over it :(

As usual absolutely brilliant. Had high expectations for the new material and this certainly hasn’t disappointed. Wireless Festival will be awesome!

Can’t wait for the album now; one day before my birthday too!

Jordan Lee Smith May 25, 09:39 PM #

I think the new album is gonna be amazing.
Can’t wait to hear it!
You guys are brilliant!

I can see where Sid is coming from with the 80s stadium filler thing. I just don’t think that’s a negative. It’s great when a band do a song that’s anthemic and resonant, but this is so much more because it’s experimental too. I never heard Simple Minds using backwards loops and I think this song is as timeless as ‘Don’t You Forget About Me’. I love the change of direction. Really looking forward to the album. I prefer this type of introspective sound. You can’t be an angry young man forever without turning into a ridiculous shouty parody of yourself like Johnny Rotten – and we all know what a sellout he is.

Much different sound here, but intoxicatingly beautiful. =]
July needs to hurry itself up. haha. =p

I think it’s great. I prefer the “Endless Blue” track on youtube mind. I can imagine Skying turning out to be a great album. Can’t wait to hear some more !

Ci5tm May 26, 10:20 PM #

From this song and endless blue, I think we’re to be hearing more layers and textures to the Horrors sound; they haven’t lost anything at all, in fact it’s called expansion to what we already have heard from them and versatility is the magic of music making anyway. I can’t wait until July 26th and the US tour dates.

Marc Infone May 27, 10:09 AM #

This song is like Hypnosis through the ear with no way out & I love it!

MoxiePhoenix May 27, 02:46 PM #

Vive la evolution!

JenJo May 28, 01:11 AM #

Sounds Kool
for a few pre set microkorg samples
try chopping a few of the loops you used from acid planet free pak 00,
I also Love the power chord sounds from the Casio-PT2 great1
keep it up Lads ;-)

Ray Morgan May 28, 04:38 AM #

loving the new tune i can call it the horrors.

Shane Zuniga May 30, 12:27 PM #

I can hear some of the last album on this track and ‘endless blue’ both uplifting songs..hence maybe ‘Skying’, sounds like theres an Arcade fire Influence (brass n strings) and speckled with some ‘britpop’ like the last album on the tracks. i just hope the darkness has been kept from The horrors last LP. See you in Glasgow!!! ;^)

I’ve been knowing THE HORRORS by listening to “Primary colours” that i cuoldn’t help buying it when i first listened to it in a record shop in Milan. the more i listen to it the more i like it. Then i turned into this single “Still life”: it sounds like another group, something different again, another “horror type”. the keyboards perfectly fit, and the voice, and the rythm… 9 out of 10 or maybe more. I hope i’ll see you play live one day in Italy. Ciaooo Mauro.

Mauro Jun 3, 05:19 AM #

Interesting, I like it how The Horrors keep progressing musically, the sign of true artists. The first single is kind of reminiscent of Simple Minds with hints of Primal Scream, I’m curious to hear how it will fit in the scheme of things. Godspeed.

Ido Schacham Jun 5, 05:04 AM #

Just by listening to this track, I can tell that the new album is going to be amazing. It will be difficult to top Primary Colours, however I’m sure that the new compilation will come close to doing so.

Jen Jun 9, 03:04 AM #

i like it but it does remind me of 80’s alt pop, i hope the dark guitar sounds from the last album have not been drowned out of the mix completely on the rest of the tracks, looking forward to the cd.

matias Jun 12, 01:25 AM #

In some point, I have to agree with Sid. I really love your mixture of crude and trashy psychadelic sounds with beautiful melodies and great lyrics.

This song is good, but a little too poppy and easy listening compared to the other albuns.

Anyway, much better than most of the suff that is being doing in the same field these days.

I’m sure this one is gone be a great album too.

Keep on “horrorizing”!

sara Jun 16, 11:53 AM #

I agree with Sid!
Jesus just sounds like 80’s U2 but with a cute synthesizer.

I love the other albums, really. I’ve been in Lisbon’s concert and you had made reference to the parkinsons, now this??

António Jun 17, 08:52 AM #

suena de lo mejor espero y sea algo paresido o muchos mejor a colores primarios:D

ME ENCANTAN!!!!!

Wow – what a beautiful song. – Soaring, uplifting, lush instrumentation. It instantly draws you in, reminding me almost of the wonderful, elevating optimism of, say, Elbow’s song ‘One Day Like This’. It’s so funny to remember back to your first album (still a great piece of work) and all that raw, frenetic energy, and now to hear how the group has emerged with this perfect, pure, glowing rock. The band really grows tenfold with each album. Faris, your voice has such a clean, strong sound on this track. It really holds its own. It feels like you have really mastered your own voice. Can’t wait to hear the rest of the album.

still life is the song for the radio.. I have been driving around California for the last three days and hand on heart have had on Wild Eye on repeat constantly…

Have just reading lots of reviews – god these people talk rubbish dont they! – Rubbish in that you are the new Simple Minds, the new TalkTalk the new this, the new that, your old stuff was not a destination but a signpost to the future… just keep banging out the tunes my friends!

you’ve got me as a fan… and have been spreading the massage too
